One of the most redeeming qualities of bamboo fabric lies in its ability to absorb moisture. Bamboo fiber has numerous small splits in it, and because of this, it absorbs water easier and dries out quicker. This allows bamboo fabric to be up to twice or even three times more absorbent than cotton, and makes bamboo towels an ideal addition to the bathroom. In addition to its ability to breathe, bamboo fabric is also just as soft and durable as cotton. Bamboo fabric also comes from a safe and renewable resource in the form of bamboo trees. Bamboo fabric is natural and organic, it contains no chemicals or toxins with the potential to rub off on the skin, making it safe for infants, children, and adults.
While some retailers have started to carry bamboo fabric products, most are still pressured by cotton makers to carry only their products. But you can find a huge selection of bamboo apparel, bed sheets, and towels online. In a few years though, it’s quite possible that bamboo will overtake cotton as the premier fabric.
